After struggling to wake up (since I slept at 4.30am watching Gilmore Girls), I finally forced myself out of bed to go to Marrickville for breakfast. I wanted to start ticking restaurants off my list. Parking was easy to find and after a short walk, we finally arrived at the Cornersmith.
There was a chalkboard for us to write our name so that we could be seated because there was a waiting line. I thought there would be a long wait but we were seated within 5 minutes. My sister and I got a seat next to the window with a street view. We ordered two coffees and a Pear, Strawberry and Vanilla shake ($6). The coffee was really well made, very very smooth. I ordered an egg and side and my sister ordered a bowl. I really wanted porridge though but eggs are always good. So glad I got the eggs! Perfectly cooked with a runny yolk.
My egg and side included: poached eggs with sourdough toast and pear+rosemary chutney with pork salami side ($14).
The bowl included: poached eggs, blue potatoes, lentils and goats cheese with baby cos lettuce ($10)
The waitresses were really nice! Service was great and I really liked the vibe of the place.
