After my Chinese Midsemester, I went to Fringe Cafe for lunch with Adrian. Just a 10 minute walk from USYD, I’ve actually walked past this cafe many many times but never went in. It’s got a pretty nice seating area, exposed to the streets of Newtown. There was a massive variety on the menu from breakfast food to lunch food such as burgers, salad and even pasta. After a while of deciding, I ordered a vanilla milkshake with oreos ($7) and also a Pesto Chicken Salad ($14) (I believe that the effects of the milkshake will be counterbalanced by the salad). Adrian got a Chicken Parmigiana ($15).
The milkshake came first and it was alright. Nothing spectacular. But oreos and milk, what could go wrong? My favourite bit was the fluffy bubbly oreo bits at the top of the milkshake. The food took a while to come…maybe like 20 minutes? I was pretty annoyed but didn’t really say anything….
When the food finally came, the salad was pretty good. Very decent-sized serving. It was chicken with celery, lettuce, tomato, haloumi (yum) and capsicum slathered in pesto sauce. I really enjoyed the salad! Not sure how the Chicken Parmigiana tasted cause Adrian didn’t offer to share. Typical.
It was a pretty standard meal. Nothing amazing. Mediocre. However, the 10% student discount was decent which made me really happy.
