Mackerel Beach

After two busy weeks of exams, Laura and I went hiking. We woke up nice and early in the morning to drive to Ku-ring-gai National Park and arrived at the Basin Trail. The walk to the beach was about 2.5kms but we got lost because we went to the wrong beach. We went to Currawong Beach instead of Mackeral Beach. That meant we spent half an hour wandering the bushes. We even bumped into a MASSIVE lizard. We probably screamed a billion times because of the random bugs and reptiles in the bushes. This is probably why we don’t really go camping and hiking. Wussy little city girls. We finally arrived at Mackerel Beach. It was a really nice beach, very quiet and clean. We ate lunch there (Laura’s mum made fried rice for us) and lay there to sunbake. Laura went jellyfish hunting in the ocean.

The walk back was horrible! No trees…. we were burning. Regardless, it was a really nice walk and a beautiful day to do it! We walked about 6km for a total of 2 hrs.

I definitely do not recommend this trail because there’s no actual direct path to the beach. This is probably why we got lost. We’re probably going to try another trial next time.

To be honest, I forgot that Sydney offered such beautiful places. I pretty much sit on my ass all day at home in front of a computer watching some TV show or movie. It was actually so nice to go out and go for a walk. It was really refreshing and now I plan to do it as much as possible! If it’s not too hot…. don’t wanna be caught in a bushfire or anything.
