On the hottest day in Spring, reaching 39 degrees….. Gen Linda and I walked under the blazing sun to go eat lunch at Gather on the Green in Camperdown. About 20 minute slow walk from the University. When we reached there, we opted to sit inside underneath a fan because we couldn’t handle the heat. Although, one of the cafe’s highlights, is the ability to go outside and sit on the grass and enjoy your food there. Oh wells, blame it on the weather.
Gather on the Greens has a large variety of choices with specials on its board. They have food ranging from sandwiches to muesli etc. They also do all-day breakfast which is perfect for someone like me who loves breakfast food.
We ordered a plate each and a drink. I got the smashed avocado with fetta and chilli flakes and an Iced Coffee. Linda ordered the Fish and Dill Pie with Salad and a mango smoothie and Gen got the Egg Benedict with a Lime Milkshake.
When the food arrived, I was worried that I would still be hungry after I ate it. I was so wrong. I was actually stuffed and I loved it. I can’t believe I used to hate avocado because it’s actually teh best thing ever. Especially on toast. I also don’t normally eat chilli but this was an exception because it gave the dish a little bit more. It was great.
The fish pie also tasted pretty good. Never had a fish pie before so it was different but it was delicious. The Eggs Benedict was awesome because it had Brioche bread instead of the typical sourdough or whatever. I loved it.
The drinks were pretty good. Nothing special to report on. The mango smoothie had a good consistency and wasn’t too runny which I’m pretty picky about. Iced coffee was yum. How can you possibly complain about a drink topped with whipped cream and ice cream?! For those who get freaked out about lime milkshakes cause like WHAT? LIME AND MILK?!!?? It tastes like a Splice. Try it!
